Nov 7, 2018: NARAL Pro-Choice Connecticut congratulates Ned Lamont on his victory in yesterday’s election. NARAL Pro-Choice Connecticut members proudly helped mobilize voters to turn out the vote for Ned, a pro-choice champion who will fight for Connecticut women and families.
“The choice in this election was clear,” said Sarah Croucher, Executive Director of NARAL Pro-Choice Connecticut, “Voters across the state showed that they want a governor who is unequivocal in his support for abortion rights and reproductive freedom. Ned Lamont made clear commitments during the election about supporting policies that will positively impact women across our state, including passing paid family and medical leave and raising the minimum wage. We are excited about working with Governor Lamont to advance reproductive freedom in Connecticut in 2019 and beyond.”
A recent poll released by Public Policy Polling on behalf of NARAL Pro-Choice America showed that 78% of women across all political parties in suburban swing Congressional districts polled said they don’t believe the government should prevent a woman from having an abortion. NARAL Pro-Choice America has known that reproductive rights would be a key issue for the state’s voters in 2018 and it held true.
