November 7, 2018: NARAL Pro-Choice Connecticut congratulates Susan Bysiewicz on her victory in yesterday’s election. NARAL Pro-Choice Connecticut members proudly helped mobilize voters to turn out the vote for Susan, a long-time pro-choice champion who will fight for Connecticut women and families.

“We are thrilled to see Susan Bysiewicz elected as Lt. Governor of Connecticut,” said Sarah Croucher, Executive Director of NARAL Pro-Choice Connecticut, “Susan ran against anti-choice extremist Joe Markley, who was endorsed in the primary by the Family Institute of Connecticut and who represented a clear danger to reproductive freedom in our state. Voters in Connecticut showed yesterday that they will not support the extreme views of candidates like Markley and instead want politicians who make clear their support for abortion access and other policies that will support women.”

A recent poll released by Public Policy Polling on behalf of NARAL Pro-Choice America showed that 78% of women across all political parties in suburban swing Congressional districts polled said they don’t believe the government should prevent a woman from having an abortion. NARAL Pro-Choice America has known that reproductive rights would be a key issue for the state’s voters in 2018 and it held true.
