November 6, 2018: Last night voters in Connecticut sent a decisive statement: this is a state where being openly pro-choice, supporting progressive policies like paid family and medical leave, and supporting equality is a winning message. We are excited to see so many NARAL Pro-Choice Connecticut PAC-endorsed candidates win their races.

It was a bad night for anti-choice politicians, with many Family Institute of Connecticut –endorsed anti-choice incumbents losing their races. The Senate will be stronger for the defeat of anti-choice State Senators Michael McLachlan and Len Suzio by Julie Kushner and Mary Abrams respectively.

Sarah Croucher, Executive Director of NARAL Pro-Choice Connecticut said, “This was a huge night for reproductive freedom in Connecticut. We know our members and endorsed candidates worked incredibly hard for these victories, energized by the national political situation. We are excited to work with so many NARAL-endorsed candidates in the State House and Senate who are committed to improving reproductive rights in our state and passing policies like paid family and medical leave. There is also a message for anti-choice politicians: their views will not win elections in Connecticut and do not represent the strongly pro-choice views of the majority of Connecticut residents.”
