May 16, 2019 – Today, the Connecticut House of Representatives voted 81 to 63 in favor of passage of H.B. 7070, An Act Concerning Deceptive Advertising Practices of Limited Service Pregnancy Centers. NARAL Pro-Choice Connecticut released the following statement following House passage.

“This is a straightforward bill that closes a loophole in current regulations. Everyone can agree that when someone is looking for a specific kind of reproductive healthcare provider, they should be able to find who they are looking for,” said Sarah Croucher, NARAL Pro-Choice Connecticut Executive Director. “During the public hearing for this bill, testimony was presented that showed that women in our state have been deceived by the deception of fake women’s health centers that represent themselves as clinics offering abortion services. Representative Steinberg, Chair of the Public Health Committee spoke about the public health interest of the bill, in making sure that individuals in our state can access the time-sensitive healthcare that they want and need without deception. We at NARAL Pro-Choice Connecticut are grateful that the House has taken action to make sure that delays or blocks are not placed in the way of individuals who are seeking abortion care.”
