Liz Gustafson, State Director of NARAL Pro-Choice Connecticut Releases Statement on Confirmation of Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court

October 26, 2020- Hartford, CT Tonight the United States Senate voted to confirm Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court. State Director of NARAL Pro-Choice Connecticut Liz Gustafson released the following statement:

“Tonight, anti-choice Republicans have put reproductive freedom, access to essential healthcare, racial justice, marriage equality and the future of our democracy at risk. The lifetime appointment of an anti-abortion, anti-LGBTQ+ and anti-science Justice on the Supreme Court- the highest court in the country- has put the lives and futures of millions on the line. The process has been negligent from the start, and instead of focusing on lifesaving economic relief during a public health crisis, conservative extremists have once again put their ideological agenda first, only eight days away from the most consequential Election in our modern history.”

“Here in Connecticut, we have always fought to protect access to essential reproductive healthcare, and we are committed to continuing our efforts alongside legislative champions and our allies. Connecticut does not only have the opportunity, but the responsibility to protect and expand reproductive freedom. We will never forget this moment, and neither will the American people.”
